Perhaps website planning is the most important part of building a website. It is a compound, but at the same time an essential ongoing activity. Without a basic, clear plan about how your website will be organized and function, it will take you longer to complete it, make it harder for you to achieve your goals, and will make it difficult for your visitors to find what they are looking for.
If you are thinking about creating a Web site, you should follow a series of planning steps to make sure your site is successful. It is very important to consider the audience thoroughly, to identify your goals and decide the content you are going to develop.
Define your website’s purpose first. A clearly defined purpose will facilitate the rest of the planning process.
Defining the target audience is another key step in the website planning process. The target audience is the group of people who are expected to visit your website. These people will be viewing the website for a definite reason and it is important to know exactly what they are looking for when they visit your website.
Content is what your visitors are coming for and therefore creating it is an essential step in the whole process of planning your website. Planning for the site’s content makes sure that the needs of the target audience and the purpose of the site will be fulfilled.
Remember that every element of your web design should work towards promoting the website’s goal.
